Kadelynn

Strange dreams wove into Kadelynn’s mind, no doubt a result of the Sundust, but she found herself tossing and turning. She reminded herself that she was dreaming, even though she couldn’t seem to wake up.

In her mind, she saw two brothers. Two sides of a coin. Tied to each other and yet so different. Magic surrounded them, and she had the deep sense that fate entwined them.

It made sense, far too much sense, until she looked at herself and found the same magic that tied them together drifting around her. It wrapped her legs and moved off into the shadows, where she sensed a fourth person just out of her sight.

Which didn’t make sense. She wasn’t tied to anyone, nor did magic touch Stonebuilders.

Frowning, she looked back at the brothers. She couldn’t see the two men’s faces, and yet, she’d never felt what she did now. Not just the sense that their fates would walk the same path, but that they were destined for each other.

KindredSpirits.

The unfamiliar word leapt into her mind, but she pushed it away. It didn’t mean anything. Just the ravings of her brain, lost in a dream that was influenced by the Sundust.

Nothing more.

And yet, never in her life had she felt her heart race at just the thought of a man. Never in her life did she feel ready and willing to give up anything and everything just to be in someone’s arms.

I’m meant for someone. Not just someone, but more than one man. And right now they’re out there in the world, waiting for something to bring us together.

When her eyes sprung open, she was panting. Her entire body was tingling and alive. She ran a hand down the sensitive space along her throat and shivered.

What had created such a strange dream?

Turning her head, she looked at the man across the fire from her. In sleep, she couldn’t help but admit that she found him handsome, attractive in a dangerous way. The tattoos that covered his face would never be a quality a Stonebuilder would enjoy on a lover, but she couldn’t deny that it added something unique to him.

But it was more than that. She’d never had a man talk to her the way he did. Everyone in her life kept her at a respectful distance. Aware of her stature, as if she was a painting to admire rather than a person.

The Seer didn’t speak to her the same way. She found him…intriguing. His words barely concealed a pain that she recognized, as it echoed in her own soul.

And yet, he could be nothing more than her guide on this trip. He would bring her to a Dragulous, and she would either kill it and return to her father, demanding her freedom to rule without a man, or she would die a warrior.

Neither path would lead her into the arms of the Seer.

Closing her eyes, she willed herself to forget the strange dream. The one that planted a seed inside of her…a seed that promised that there was a life of love and pleasure somewhere in the world for her.
